Our next walk
We are hoping to begin our monthly walks once more. We will conduct the walk to abide by any government guidelines that are in place at the time.
Please contact John Houtby, Chris Ratcliffe or Brian Purkis if you are interested.
It is hoped we can proceed with these walks, weather permitting, on or close to the last Friday of each month as we did before.
Due to the ever changing government guidelines that are brought in, I will advise here, as and if, anything alters to any walk details.
I will post details of our next walk here as soon as they are known.
thank you
October walk 2016
Our October walk on Friday the 28th was well attended once more. The weather was very kind to us as we walked just over 4 miles. We met at Downtown car park off Tritton Road at approximately 09.30 and walked from Doddington Road and in towards Swanholme Lakes and then onto Harstholme Park, walking around the lake there while taking in the scenery.
November walk 2016
Thirteen brave souls attended our November walk that took place at Skellingthorpe.
The weather was cold but eventually it dried after a wet start to the day.
We parked up at the Skellingthorpe Community Hall on Station Road and headed off
down the path that was, years ago, a railway line, eventually turning off track into the woods.
After the cold start the weather improved and, once out of the wind, felt reasonably pleasant.
We walked approximately 4 miles through the woods, passing some very large isolated houses, eventually rejoining the path that took us back to our cars.
We finished the morning off by enjoying a coffee and a teacake at the Ice Cream Parlour on the outskirts of Skellingthorpe.
We would like to pass on our thanks to all the members who braved the cold weather to partake in and enjoy, we hope, our latest walk.

December walk 2016
Our post Xmas walk. Fifteen of us set off from Odder on the A57 Saxilby Road and three of our ladies, Jackie, Beryl and Myra, were keen to try out their new walking boots .
We were heading for South Carlton which sits just below Burton Ridge. We made our way down a farm track and then joined the footpaths. It was cold and foggy so there was no view of Burton Cliff top. We walked at a reasonable pace, trying to off load a few ounces after all the over indulgence during the festive period.
We passed through the small village of South Carlton, passing the old School House which was originally built in the 16th century. We then headed back down towards Odder, still foggy and cold, but we had then warmed up with the brisk walk.
As is always the case after the walk a hot drink and a butty of some sort and a good natter. "I'll get these" says John our leader, then he disappears leaving me to get the bacon butties and drinks again.
Thanks to all who turned up, despite the cold and fog. Our next walk, at the end of January, will start from Damons on Doddington Road Lincoln.
